Getting Lippy

Hey lovelies! I am getting in gear for Valentine’s over here! I always get excited about dressing for V-day because I love anything that is pink, red, and/or covered in hearts or kisses! Plus, I also don’t mind chocolate and teddy bears! Though I tend to not focus on the romantic aspect of the holiday, I will say that I am looking forward to doing some cute things with my Valentine this year…I am going to attempt pink hot chocolate, so stay tuned to read about how it turns out. I don’t doubt it will look adorable, but I am anxious to taste it. If anything, it will make for a cute picture and fit the ~aesthetic~! You already know I have my outfit planned, but I have outfits ready for all of Valentine’s week! Honestly, I could probably dress festively for the entire month of February! I wanted to share some outfit inspiration for you all, with pieces that can be dressed up or down, no matter what you have planned for V-day. I chose this cozy sweater (that is much needed in this frigid, 8 degree weather), paired with wide-leg cropped jeans and some accessories with attitude, including a lip purse and matching heels! If you’re having a cozy night in, going to a fancy dinner, or just drinking wine with your galentines, this look can fit anything on your agenda this weekend. So, grab your lipstick and pucker up while you scroll through this getting lippy blogpost!

Kissing is one of my favorite past times (wink, wink) and lipstick is one of my favorite products, so buying this sweater just made sense for me! Sometimes, when it’s cold and snowy, there is nothing better than a sweater and a kiss, but you have both with this! It’s such a cute and quirky piece that captures attention for all the right reasons! It’s a nod to Valentine’s Day without being overly obvious or tacky. The colors are certainly festive with pretty hues of pink and red that remind me not only of V-day, but of my mom because those are her favorite colors. It’s such a good color combo that can be worn any day of the year—just another reason why this is such a great find. Because it doesn’t explicitly scream Valentine’s Day, you can wear this any time you’re feeling flirty. I love the fit of this piece because it isn’t too tight, but also not super baggy, just as sweaters should be! There’s surely nothing to pout about when it comes to this cute sweater. This year, my Valentine can bring me a kiss, and I’ll bring the cozy knits!

Denim is an essential all year long, and it is especially my go-to when the cold comes creeping in. I have way too many jeans than I’d like to admit, so I did struggle trying to pick a pair to wear! I ultimately opted for a dark wash, wide-leg cropped pair that feels a little more on the dressy side. Of course, you can stick to the forever fun distressed denim, but I chose to put a fancier spin on the look, since V-day is a special occasion! These jeans are super flattering and chic with the wide-leg silhouette that flares out from the hip without clinging to the body. I love a cropped pant to showcase the shoes, and I also think the belt is a retro touch that adds that extra character to the look. These aren’t your everyday jeans, and I appreciate the unique feel they have that adds interest to any outfit. I know we all forgot jeans existed when Covid entered our lives, but I encourage you to put down the sweats and brush the dust off that denim!

When I commit to an outfit, I commit 100%, so when I get lippy, I really mean it! I styled this lip purse over the Fourth of July, and I am pretty sure I mentioned how perfect it would be for Valentine’s day. So here I am again with my crossbody that causes all the conversations. It is a little on the small side, so it ironically only fits your lipstick, but I definitely think where it lacks in practicality, it makes up in cuteness! The red velvet material feels super luxe, though this bag was rather inexpensive. It’s a great purse for someone like me who likes to make a statement, but also for those who want to have more fun with fashion but aren’t ready to go all out—incorporating accessories like this is a way to show you don’t take life too seriously. After all, life’s too short not to be locking lips and staying hip!
My lip heels have been in my life for 5 years now, though it seems like it was just yesterday when I opened them on Christmas morning! I fondly remember strutting through the halls of my high school, probably sounding like a teacher with my noisy shoes. But, they don’t award “Best Dressed” to just anyone! These heels clearly can stand the test of time as they are quality shoes that I continue to wear over and over. They’re as comfy as can be, as they could get me from the cafeteria to study hall, and now from my apartment to my lecture, with no blisters. The fun print is actually more versatile than you would think, making these lips something you can’t resist!
TheClosetComber.com is one of the loves of my life, as fashion will always have a special place in my heart (plus, it can’t break up with me)! So, even if you don’t have any plans for Valentine’s Day, I hope this post inspired you to show your love to something or someone, even just to love yourself a little extra! Honestly, some of my fondest memories of Valentine’s Day weren’t created with a guy, but with my parents! I am so thankful that they never fail in making me feel loved! I am grateful that my family has always been there for me, even when others aren’t, though I am excited to do all the sappy things that people associate with V-day, like watching Rom Coms, eating chocolates, and getting a few kisses too!
