Hey there, lovelies! Happy 2021! You know what they say, “New Year, New Me”—I am sure we are all tired of that statement, but I definitely manifested embracing a new side of myself. Over the course of the last year, I gained a bit of a new perspective on life. Instead of waiting for the “right” time to do things I want to do, I simply started living more, and it has really helped me cope with all the changes happening to me both personally and in the world. The first post of 2021 is about taking initiative to live life to the fullest! It’s still true to all things The Closet Comber, but it’s about a more ~permanent~ accessory…my first tattoo! Yes, you read that correctly! It’s a tiny little tribute, and I’m most definitely making the biggest deal of the smallest tattoo, but it’s what I do. I am so excited because I have been talking about wanting a tattoo for years and finally did it. The only thing holding me back was the fact that it is forever engraved, but I can honestly say that I can’t wait to look at it for the rest of my life. So, without further ado, keep on scrolling to see my tattoo (and my outfit, of course)!

The story of getting my tattoo is pretty simple because it happened on a whim. Of course I knew I wanted one, but I didn’t expect for it to be so easy and painless (well, actually kinda painful, but you get me)! I walked into the tattoo shop to ask about pricing and have a mini consultation, and the artist actually had some time before his next appointment. Instead of agonizing over it, I did it right then and there! All of my friends were a little surprised by my secretive move, but couldn’t help but approve! In fact, my best friend guessed exactly what I got, though it was of no shock to anyone that I got a hanger inked on me.
I chose to get a hanger for obvious reasons—it’s the official Closet Comber logo! In addition to representing my blog, the hanger is also a symbol of my passion for fashion. Fashion has always been more than just a hobby for me, but rather what I live for. It’s what I am soon getting a degree in and what I hope to have a career in. It’s about more than pretty clothes, but as a way to express who I am. What I love about fashion is that no matter how many wardrobe changes and style phases I go through, my love for creativity and self-expression will forever endure, just like this tattoo. The reality is that I probably won’t be blogging for the rest of my life (but who knows—I plan on being this fabulous at 80 wink, wink), but theclosetcomber.com will be a part of me for all my days! I will always cherish the photoshoots, the outfits, and sharing my style journey with all of you. I truly can’t imagine life without my blog, and every time I look at my wrist, I’ll be reminded of all the amazing opportunities that come with being the one and only Closet Comber!

It wouldn’t be a blogpost if I didn’t talk about the outfit! I chose to keep things simple, chic, and casual as I didn’t want anything to take away from my tattoo. I can’t help but associate leather jackets with the tattoo shop because they both have a little edge (I wore this jacket when my friend got her tattoo, too)! I threw my leather jacket over a minimalistic, model-off-duty white tee and jeans. The tee has a ribbed texture that gives the look dimension, while the distressed mom jeans are comfy with character, making this outfit far from basic. Sleek black sock booties were the perfect complement to this ensemble, though the oversized sunnies certainly sealed the mysterious, *slightly* rebellious vibe I was going for, with emphasis on slightly!

I have always been fascinated with tattoos because, as an artist myself, I have so much respect for the gorgeous artistry and adornment people choose for their bodies. So many people are walking art museums and I am 100% here for it! My tattoo is quite dainty, but it was meant for me, which is the best part about tattoos—they are personal and unique to each individual. Every time I meet someone with tattoos, I always ask the story behind them. Do you have any tattoos? Let me know in the comments below! Also, I wanted to give a little shoutout to Dark Star Tattoo Studio in Punxsutawney, Pa! If you are ever looking to get inked in the area, the people are so friendly and make it a great experience! Plus, they have the cutest decor (check out the sign)! For anyone contemplating getting a tattoo, I recommend it because I could’t be happier with the result! Whether you plan to think inked or just want a fun outfit, be sure to comb those closets for luxe leather and distressed denim for the ultimate Bad A** babe look!
