Hey lovelies! Happy Magvember! Yes, that’s right, it is my ~Birth Month~! Actually, it is my birthday today, and I am obviously very excited. I’ve always loved to celebrate my birthday because it is a reason to get fancy, eat cake, blast music, and have fun with friends and family (and an excuse to have a photo shoot—though I don’t need an excuse)! Being “extra” for my birthday is part of being The Closet Comber, meaning I will forever want to have big balloons and all the glitter, no matter the age! This year, I am recovering from a cold and have to take a finance test on my bday, but I am not letting that bring me down! After all, Magvember only comes once a year! To get in the party spirit, I am welcoming a new year in a black velvet shimmer romper with patent leather heels and a glittery bag. My boldest accessory, however, are the giant “22” balloons. I figured someday I won’t want people to know my age, but for now I quite literally put it on display! I am embracing every second of my 20s and realized that I did so much growing in the past year. I know, I know, it is very cliché because we all technically grow, but I have had such a year. I was faced with lots of changes in my personal life that pushed me out of my comfort zone in both good and bad ways, but they gave me a new outlook on life and what it means to be young and live in the moment. I’ve developed a new perspective in the midst of all my new experiences, as well as through spending most of year 21 in a pandemic. I’ve faced some of my biggest challenges this year, while also gaining some of the biggest rewards, and I can’t wait to see what 22 has in store! Glitter is my favorite color, so I obviously had to incorporate it into my birthday outfit. I opted for something that is chic, sexy, sophisticated, and still fun with all the hints of shimmer! This black romper feels so luxe and rich with the velvet fabric, making it suitable for any occasion where feeling fancy is fundamental. Long sleeves are perfect for partying in Magvember because it is **usually** freezing this time of year (though it is supposed to be 75 and sunny today..What?!)! The sleeve coverage is balanced out by the low-cut neckline and short shorts that show the perfect amount of skin. I love the fact that this is a romper because the shorts allow you to show lots of leg, but are more comfortable and better for avoiding wardrobe malfunctions when compared to a short dress. It’s great for going out because it is revealing in all the right places, but will keep you covered no matter how tipsy you get! The multicolored embedded shimmer is hard to spot in the photos, but in real life, it makes a statement in the chicest way! One of my main goals of being 22 is to leave sparkle wherever I go, and this romper helps me to do just that!
Heels are a go-to for me whether it’s a celebration or a normal Tuesday! Since I don’t have to walk to class as much, I find myself slipping into heels on a more regular basis. I am not sure if my feet appreciate it, but I will have plenty of opportunities for sensible footwear in the future! Even if you aren’t a die-hard heel lover, most love slipping into a sexy shoe for special occasions, which is why I busted these babies out! These Katy Perry heels take the ever-so-classic black pump and inject a unique twist on the heel portion—a sphere and pillar type shape that resembles a chess piece. I love that the design is still sleek and minimal and doesn’t take away from the versatility of the shoe, but the detail is different enough to make them stand out (and help you stand tall)! I don’t mind being the tallest in the room, especially in these shoes!
I thought why not keep the glitter going and opted for a bag that is equally shiny! This little purse is tiny enough to take on-the-go, but big enough to hold all that bday cash…hint, hint (kidding..kinda)! It’s such a cute shape and features a top handle and shoulder strap for easy carrying. The best part is all the pretty shimmer that coordinates with the romper. All I can say is bring on 22 because I got this in the bag!
Walking away from 21 feeling like I can handle anything! My twenties have been my best adventure yet because living life on my own terms is truly so exciting. From business to boys, navigating the “selfish years” of my twenties has been such a great experience, and I can only hope for the same for 22, the rest of the decade, and really the rest of my life! In the rather short amount of time I’ve been here, I learned that being Maggie Prutznal, The Closet Comber, is something you can’t define or put a label on. So far, there has been 22 years of chicness, panache, and personality that will continue to shine for many years to come. So, thank you to everyone who has come in and out of my life this past year, and for those who are still here, I hope you stay awhile! I may not have a Birkin or a Bentley, but I have the best family and friends, and they’re priceless (Of course, I’ll slip you my address if you want to send any Hermès over)!
