Hi lovely people! I promised that I still had some fruity fashions up my sleeve, and this week, I live up to my promise. I thought now is the perfect time to bust out my citrus fruits because it’s undeniably hot, and this weather has me craving lemon(ade)! Instead of complaining about the heat, I embrace it and grab all my lemon gear. I wore a two piece set, white mules, and accessorized with a lemon bag and lemon earrings. Yes, you read that correctly—when I commit, I commit! This fun and flirty outfit is great for numerous summer activities and occasions; I can definitely say that it is picnic approved because I wore this look for an outdoor get together and it was a hit! The fact that it is stretchy is a big bonus, especially when the ice cream truck shows up at the picnic. I am sorry, but nobody can resist dip n’ dots or the ice cream man! Aside from being a great look to grab sweet treats in, you can also wear this out with friends, on vacation, to a concert, or just for a stroll in the neighborhood. You don’t need to have extravagant plans to look cute. After all, they always say that there is no such thing as being overdressed! So, keep on reading for my style advice about the last look of my fruity fashion series of the summer (cue the tears). You all know, when life gives me lemons, my favorite thing to do is wear them!
Of all the eclectic prints I wear, this lemon print is by far the most popular among the masses. I can hardly go a day without seeing someone in lemons when I scroll through social media! Despite their favorability, I haven’t seen a look quite like mine… for sure, none with the same accessories! Obviously, I love being unique and standing out, even if that means putting real lemons in front of my eyes. I can’t say that my eyes weren’t burning after that, but it was worth it! Back to focusing on the look; I am about as obsessed with lemons as I am two piece sets! This is a new style that I haven’t talked about yet, so I am excited to shed some light. I haven’t worn many sets in awhile, though I am happy to be stocking up. I love sets so much because there is literally zero thought put into them on your part. You don’t have to worry about coordinating colors, clashing prints, or mismatched styles. They are really great for people who hate putting outfits together. Don’t think they are for the lazy fashionista, however, because everyone loves a no brainer ensemble that is easy to throw on. My lemon set keeps me so cool with this tube top and midi skirt. The balance within this is so on point that it gives me chills, though! A tube top normally has a very “naked” feel because there isn’t much fabric to them. And midi skirts can sometimes feel matronly for some. But, this look has you covered, and uncovered, in all the right ways! You can wear a skimpier tube top because the long skirt balances out the amount of skin. Not to mention, the top is tight, and the skirt is flowy, so again, there is amazing harmony! Also, you can choose wether or not you want to show off your midriff. This is meant to be a crop top, but if you feel uncomfortable, you can always hike up the skirt to make it appear more like a dress. There is lots of freedom with this look. Lastly, I want to mention the print again! I am living for this particular print because it gives off a vintage vibe, and we all know how much I adore vintage. The lemons have a very natural, almost washed out look, and they are absolutely adorable! I recommend combing those closets for matching two piece sets because they will change your life, but you can always wear a lemon print top and a white skirt (or vice versa), if you aren’t into full on prints.
In the picture above, you can see me staring adoringly at my main squeeze a.k.a. my lemon bag! I spotted this purse when I was online shopping over spring break, and I needed a little retail therapy the way my semester was going (busy busy busy)! Since I didn’t get to go hang out on the beach for break, I bought a lemon bag instead! I thought it would be perfect for summer and little did I know that lemon print would be a huge trend! I confess that I wasn’t sure how much I would actually use it, but this purse has been a go to for me all season! First of all, yellow has been EVERYWHERE lately. I think it is safe to say that yellow is one of the most popular colors of 2018. So, even if you are a little color shy, you can get your yellow fix with this bag. Second, this purse is straw, making it super current with the latest bag trends. Straw and wicker bags have been noticeably on the rise these past few years because they are so cool! Perhaps we can thank Jane Birkin for opting to carry a wicker basket instead of your everyday handbag. Fashionistas quickly adopted this cool alternative, and now we have the perfect marriage between a wicker basket and the classic handbag. Finally, we can’t ignore the long chain that features bright green leaves. These leaves are so cute and unexpected, adding a wonderful touch that Betsey Johnson, of course, would think of! I buy a lot of different bags, but Betsey was arguably my first favorite designer (now they are all my favs!). Her pieces have always had a signature look, and I love how she stays true to her creative self. To all my fashion lovers, I encourage you to give this bag a try because it really is versatile! But, you can always opt for a white purse, natural color straw bag, or try pink for a pop of color!
I am feeling like I am being very longwinded in this post, so I will try not to babble too much about the rest of my look. The camera had a little trouble focusing, but I knew I had to mention these lemon earrings. They are little gold hoops that have leaf charms and lemons dangling from them. I love them because it is clear to see that they fit my theme, and they are so lightweight! As much as I love earrings, I often wear studs because I hate heavy earrings that feel like they are pulling my ears. But after I put these on, I never wanted to take them off! My shoes are my white mules that I know I have worn at least once in my posts. I wear my mules as much as my sandals and boots because they are easy to slip on and are so very chic. I haven’t tallied how often I typed the word, “trend,” but get ready because I am going to say it again! These shoes are extremely with the times, so yes, these mules are trendy and you need them in your life. However, you can wear wedges, sandals, ballets flats, or even canvas sneakers if you want to add personal flair!
I think it is time to call it a night and wrap up this post! Now, all I want is a cold glass of lemonade after working on this content! My favorite lemonade is the fresh squeezed from the fair…probably because it is mostly sugar! Haha! But, the fair is only around once a year, so it’s okay to splurge, right?! Usually, I drink lemon water, which isn’t as sweet, but still tasty. Leave a comment and tell me your favorite summer drink! I want to know if there are any fellow lemon heads out there. Remember to comb those closets for pieces that feature this fun fruit, as well as accessories that match the citrus vibes. If you happen to be too busy sipping on sweet summertime lemonade, then relax and shop my links! I have this exact look linked this week (except the earrings, but they are crazy similar)! By the way, I want to mention that I am taking a vacation and not posting next week! I haven’t had a break in awhile, and I am excited to rejuvenate and unwind with my family. Don’t fret, though, because I will have all this pent up fashion advice to give when I get back! Thank you for reading, and Happy Closet Combing!
