Furry February

Hello my loves! The weather has been absolutely crazy this week where I live in PA. Let’s just say that it was unusually warm, causing the snow to melt…until I decide to shoot for the blog. Then, the snow decides to replenish itself! That is why I am in two different locations, trying to avoid the snowflakes that kept successfully creeping into some of the pics! Okay, I am done talking about my weather woes because it is really all about the clothes (love that rhyming)! I am actually happy that the snow is back because I am not done talking about coats. February is supposed to be chilly if you live in a cooler climate, making it the perfect time to throw on some faux fur. I took advantage of the fresh snowfall as I wore my vintage, black faux fur coat, vegan leather leggings, booties, and everyone’s favorite white tee. This look is super warm and practical, but the mixing of the different textures keep things interesting and stylish, of course! So, keep on reading to see how I wear my faux fur in frigid February!

If someone were to ask me what my favorite part about winter is, my response would obviously be the fashion because I just love coats and layering pieces. Coats have the ability to amp up a simple look, and this outfit is all about upgraded basics. My coat is a vintage piece that I scooped up at a local shop in Punxsutawney, The Hatchery. This vintage & artisan market is my favorite place to shop for unique finds, especially coats (check out my “Red Hot Holiday” post to see the red coat I also purchased there)!  Again, if you are ever in the area and love vintage items of all kinds, I encourage you to check them out. Anyway, the coat I purchased is a double-breasted black Borgazia Styled by Fairmoor. From my research, I would say that it dates back to the 60s or 70s. Either way, it is a beautiful coat and I am a huge advocate for the faux fur. It is just as warm and luxurious as the real stuff, but without harming creatures. There is no status symbol associated with fur anymore, so many brands, including Gucci, are vowing to stop using it. I love that this vintage brand tried to embrace the faux fur, and I also love how the material adds texture to a plain black coat, so you can pair it with everything, all while making a statement!

I wish I would have owned a pair of vegan leather leggings ages ago because, trust me, they are the gift that keeps on giving. I am guilty in a sense that comfort is not typically my priority when it comes to getting dressed, but I don’t have to worry when I throw these pants on. Not only are they comfy, but the vegan leather fabric gives them this edgy chic vibe that you don’t get from your average gym leggings. They are the definition of sleek, making your legs look great, and the smoothness also contrasts with the faux fur. These pants just have attitude, so when you put them on, you can conquer the world.

Because I am super chatty this week, I will be brief about my tee. Honestly, it is just a basic white tee that speaks for itself. You can wear a black or a colored shirt with this outfit, but I kept things classic with this cotton top. It’s light, easy, and definitely a closet essential!

I am so excited to talk about my accessory this week because when I am not thinking about clothes in my spare time, I am most likely thinking about cats (often times that order is reversed, too)! I am obsessed with these kitty earmuffs because they go perfectly with the coat and duh… cats. I like that the cat ears are gold and dainty; it makes them look chic and sophisticated. They are certainly quirky, but they don’t feel childish or silly. Also, they aren’t too fuzzy that they end up engulfing your entire head, and they are simply classic with a twist. So, for all my fellow kitty lovers out there, get yourself some earmuffs that will keep your ears warm and make your cat proud!

Lastly, I wanted to talk about my booties, though they aren’t as fun following cat earmuffs! Again, a staple in my winter wardrobe and very much plastered throughout my blog looks, these booties are a great investment. All they are are a black pair of sock booties that zip at the ankles. The tiny heel makes them bearable for walking and is another reason why they are always on my feet. Try a colorful shoe to add vibrance, a sneaker for added “coolness,” or follow in my footsteps with a black boot!

I can honestly say that this outfit will have you prepared for any kind of cold February weather you may have to face (or scenarios you find yourself in to avoid the snow) because I was dodging snowflakes and sitting on picnic tables in this look! Fur never goes out of style, and faux fur is where it is at! Do a little vintage shopping or check out your mom’s, grandma’s, great aunt’s, etc. closet to see if you can score a little old fashion gem. If not, there are plenty of places that sell all kinds of black faux fur coats too, so you can always shop the links below! Also, don’t be afraid to drop a comment and tell me what your favorite vintage finds are; I would love to know! Stay warm out there, my fashionistas, and Happy Closet Combing!
