Hello loves! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I don’t know about you, but I feel so spoiled with all the beautiful weather where I live. So, I decided to travel to the park and throw on some fall pieces. I gravitated towards a dress (surprise, surprise), but I couldn’t just leave the house in a dress…I needed a jacket, purse, jewelry, shoes, and the list goes on. Trust me, I always accessorize! Anyway, I purposely made sure my look would go with the stone colors of the bandstand and provide outfit inspiration for you all. I went with a material that screams fall: suede (actually faux suede)! Yes, this look is suede on suede, but this amazing fabric comes in a variety of colors to add variety to your wardrobe. And a few coordinating accessories never hurt anyone, either!
This dress of mine was something I stumbled upon and never thought I would ever really like. However, I gave it a chance, tried it on, and the rest is history. I honestly do like it even though I look angry in the picture…it’s the sun! I love it so much because I don’t own anything else similar to it. It is extremely simple; a brown/taupe color (it’s like a chameleon and looks different colors in different lighting), a rather boxy shape, and my favorite feature, pockets. A simple dress like this is so comfy and casual and the perfect basic. It is the reason I piled on all the other fun stuff! Sometimes we are always looking for new and interesting finds, but the simple pieces are just as great and easier to wear on an everyday basis. Another great feature, as I mentioned, is the fact that it is suede, so it feels warmer, richer, and like a perfect fall essential. Try looking for any casual, plain dress in your closet, and I will teach you how to spice it up!
I added a blazer, which along with a jacket is my favorite layering piece. The fact that it doesn’t button makes it look really effortless, so don’t reach for anything too structured if you want to achieve that look. You can even just grab a cardigan you already own to pair with it. The dusty rose color is pretty next to a neutral shade, like in the dress. Neutral dresses (and all neutral clothes) are like a blank canvas, so look for those if you want to get creative with additional pieces. I went with other shades of pinks and browns to unify the accessories and the clothes. It’s more interesting to play with different shades and textures, but keeping them in the same color family ensures nothing will clash.
Before I talk about this bag and why it looks so great with the outfit, I want to talk about the meaning behind it. It was given to me by my late grandmother, who I lost this past year. Obviously, it is hands down my favorite bag, and not because it is Gucci, but because it was hers. I know she would be so proud of the blog and love knowing that I get to share this beautiful purse with all of you! She really took care of it and it definitely shows, so I am proud to be wearing it.
Okay, sorry if that tugged on your heart strings, but now we can get back to the fashion! The brown shade that has the logo printed on it matches the dress so well, but the contrasting tan leather makes the bag stand out against the darker colors in the look. This color palette reminds me of classic Louis Vuitton, too. But, if you don’t have any designer bags, don’t worry because there are many great purses that can provide the same effect! Find a bag that has different fabrics or colors, or something that goes with your look. This dress would even look great with a floral bag or any type of printed purse…have fun with it!
I also grabbed a pair of brown sunnies while heading out the door, and they were definitely needed the day I got these pictures!
