Casual Americana

Hello everyone! Hopefully you all had a fabulous Labor Day weekend! If you’re like me, then you are trying to hold on to every last bit of summer before breaking out the fall jackets and boots. In this outfit, I am taking full advantage of the final warm days. It is the perfect casual look; a graphic tee, denim skirt and jacket, and a pair of white sneakers… the definition of classic American style. This look is great for school, picnics, or even just running errands because of its comfort and laid-back feel.

I wanted to create a look that was festive and patriotic, so I went with this comfy Levi’s tee that has stars and stripes. Graphic tees are extremely popular right now, and this well-known American brand never goes out of style. I love the denim on denim look, and as the nights get colder, it’s nice to have a jacket to throw on. A way to keep your “double” denim creations fresh is to make sure that you pair different washes to break it up. I went with a darker skirt and lighter jacket, but you can mix it up however you want to…or don’t mix it up at all if you prefer the matching look. You can also add buttons, pins, or patches to personalize your denim.
With all the athleisure trends on the runways, it is essential to own a pair of sneakers. If you don’t already own some and are considering in investing in a pair, I would recommend sticking with neutral colors because they are the easiest to wear. You can tell that I definitely wear these Michael Kors ones often! Sneakers are so comfortable to walk in and add a sporty vibe to any outfit. Also, a great pair of sunglasses is the icing on the cake. I love the vintage feel of these white ones, and again, they go with everything. You can recreate this outfit at home with any white t-shirt, sneakers, and some denim. Comment and let me know how you make it your own!

  1. I remember denim jean skirts from my childhood, who would have known they'd make a come back when we were adults right?! I have always wished I had the confidence to try and pull of a jean skirt again. I'm totally in love the casual summery vibe this look gives off, I'm a sucker for some all white shoes. But since I can't do the jean skirt idea, what would you suggest pairing this look with instead?

  4. Of course, if you are not into the skirt, you should wear what makes you feel comfortable! If you still want the denim on denim look, you can wear your favorite pair of jeans or denim shorts. Or, you can always go with a skirt that isn't denim, pairing it with a white or red cotton mini skirt.
